22 Nov WHY IS A MORNING ROUTINE IMPORTANT FOR A BUSINESS OWNER?
Early mornings aren’t for everyone, I’m sure of that.
But let me ask you this, are you a morning person?
And do you have a morning routine?
I remember when the importance of a morning routine was first shared with me. It was when I started to attend my first personal development courses many years ago. At first I felt it wasn’t really that important however, once I started rising early and implementing my morning routine, my life started to transform.
Starting my day with movement, meditation, journaling, vision creation and gratitude helps me to stay positive, focused and energised. When I don’t do it, I really feel it. I feel sluggish, my day is not as productive and I can lose focus to what really matters to me.
As a mum now of my 4 year old little girl, I do find fitting in my morning routine everyday much harder, however with a few little tweaks and being more flexible I manage to find time for me in the morning. It is so important for my own mental health & well being that I make sure I take time out for myself at the start of the day.
I’d love to know, do you have a morning routine?
What do you do each day to help set yourself up for success?
I attended a conference earlier this year in Brisbane, and all of the presenters who were also coaches and who had created very successful businesses, shared the strategies that they’d personally used to create their successful business.
One of the most interesting questions an attendee asked was “what did they do each day to set themselves up for success, what was their morning routine.”
Guess what? Every single one of the presenters had some form of morning routine!
Even though they all varied, they each had a morning routine that they consistently did each morning to start their day right.
Now that I have shared the importance of having a morning routine, I thought I’d share my morning routine. What I do or try to do each day to set myself up for success.
What do I include in my morning routine:
1. MAKE THE BED
Every morning I ensure that I make my bed, this way I can start my day with a small win, ticking off one of my daily goals. When my bed is made and my room is neat & tidy, my mind feels less cluttered ready to focus on my day.
2. MEDITATE
Secondly, I meditate. This may vary from listening to a guided meditation, a guided breath work session or simply sitting in silence for 10 – 15 minutes each morning. I love guided meditations, or listening to relaxing music, as I find if there is no music or background guidance my mind tends to drift. I always have my journal nearby so once my meditation ends I can spend time journaling.
3. JOURNAL & GRATITUDE
Once my meditation ends, I spend 10 minutes focusing on my gratitude and appreciation. I write a page in my journal focusing on each of my gratitudes, and then I free flow journal writing. In this time I write my thoughts & feelings, getting my ideas, emotions and thoughts onto paper helps me to process and clear any feelings and emotions that have arisen over the past day. Journaling can be whatever you want it to be, putting pen to paper and writing whatever comes out is very therapeutic and helps clear your mind for the day ahead.
4. EXERCISE
Moving your body, energising your cells and getting the flow of oxygen around your body is key for not only physical health, but also mental & emotional well being.
A morning walk is often how I start my day and get my blood flowing. Any exercise that you enjoy that moves your body, gets your blood pumping and skin sweaty is great to energise and motivate you for the day ahead.
5. HEALTH
After working up a good sweat I take my vitamins, minerals and supplements. That way, even if I am not able to eat all the right foods during the day, I know that at least I have fueled my body with the right supplements. I personally love my Nu Skin LifePak every morning.
This is how I start my day. It is this routine that keeps me organised and set for the day ahead.
Do you have a morning routine? I’d love to hear what you do each day to set yourself up for success.
