08 Aug 5 strategies to boost your business confidence
One of the keys, I believe to my business success was improving my business and personal confidence.
In this blog, I wanted to share with you a topic that’s close to my heart because of how it changed my life. That is five strategies I used personally to boost my business confidence. I believe that business success often comes down to your mindset and your personal confidence. Your ability to keep taking action even on those days you don’t feel like showing up.
On those days when your confidence has taken a hit, how you regain that confidence and keep taking action is key.
One way I believe you can do this is by focusing on why you started your business in the first place. Being clear on your big why, hence why I always talk about having your vision, helps you to keep taking action, keep connecting with your customers, to your prospective customers, and to keep showing up, even when your confidence has taken a hit.
Here are my 5 tips to boost your business confidence.
Focus on your WHY
Why? The reason why you keep showing up every day. The reason why you’re helping the particular customers you’re helping. The reason why you’ve created the products or services that you’ve created is one of the major keys to actually building your confidence and helping you to keep showing up.
If you’ve had a bad day, if you’ve had some negative feedback, if you’re feeling a little bit flat, if you’re potentially a little bit stressed about cash flow, or some other aspect of your business, one of the real drivers for you to keep showing up is actually tapping into why you’re doing what you’re doing.
So what is your WHY? Have you actually really clarified it? Do you have it on your walls? Do you read it to yourself every day?
Constantly work on yourself – personal & professional development
When I decided to invest in myself, both personally and professionally, it was a major turning point in my life and my confidence. I joined T. Harv Ecker’s Quantum Leap personal development program. This program included seven different personal development courses that I went to, over a period of 18 months. They focused on mindset, business success strategies, stepping outside your comfort zone, and personal transformation.
Over this 18month period, I pushed myself further than I ever had before. By doing this, my confidence exploded and I literally saw the direct result of this in my business, as the profitability and business growth skyrocketed.
Take Action – Ready… Fire… Aim…
Taking action helps to build and boost that confidence muscle. Often as a business owner, by just being in motion, you think you’re doing the work. However, sometimes the busy work is not actually moving the business forward. For example you could be spending time creating an amazing business plan, setting up a beautiful website, or payong $1,000s to get beautiful photos, however you’re not actually taking the action that’s going to move the needle forward of your business.
However, when you do actually take the “Scary” action your confidence starts to build. This could be picking up the phone and making the phone calls to build your sales muscle, actually engaging a customer and asking for the sale, putting yourself out there on social media, doing a presentation or connecting with someone who can help you to grow your business.
If it’s cold calling, start calling people. If it’s writing your first blog, write the first sentence. If it’s making a podcast, just press record. Nothing will happen if you don’t take the first step and take action.
Focus on who you serve, not on yourself
When you start focusing on the people that you’re serving, and you’re showing up for them, not for yourself, it actually can help build your confidence to step outside your comfort zone. Because it’s no longer all about you. You’re actually doing this to help someone else. And when you’re helping someone else, it’s amazing what you can actually achieve.
Helping someone else is bigger than you. It’s no longer just about you. And you start to realise that if you don’t take the action, you’re actually not helping those people that you’re here to serve in your life.
On the flipside, when you make it all about yourself, that’s when the doubt starts to set in and the monkey mind can take over. That mind that tells you that you can’t do it and you’re not good enough, blah, blah, blah. So shut up that monkey mind and focus on those who you serve.
Invest in a coach
It’s so important to invest in someone to help you. Whether that’s an ongoing coaching programme, an online course, a one-on-one strategy session, a business mastermind group, or a workshop that you attend in person. Actually investing in someone who has the skills and the knowledge that can help you to achieve what you want to achieve, can be really impactful for your success, and your confidence.
You might think that you’ve got everything covered, that you have sufficient knowledge of your business, but sometimes, when we face a problem it can be important to take a second look at it through somebody else’s eyes. They might just see something that you might have overlooked.
That is the importance of investing in a coach, in any field. So if you feel you’re stagnant in business or personally, and you’ve lost confidence because of this. Invest in a coach! It might just be what you need.
I hope these tips help you to build your confidence as a business owner. These tips are all one I have personally used and I can confidently say that I wouldn’t be where I am today without the help and support I received from the communities I am part of, the coaches I have invested in and the family and friends I surround myself with.
